PolyBak Has Earned the UL Formaldehyde Free Emissions Validation
Richwood Industries, a wood distributor and manufacturer serving the North American office furniture and composite panel manufacturing industries, today announced their proprietary product, PolyBak, has earned the UL Environmental Claim Validation for Formaldehyde Free Emissions.
PolyBak is a polymer-impregnated kraft linerboard that is well known within its current markets as an excellent backer, overlay and/or crossband in wood-based panel manufacturing and furniture applications. Since its inception in the 1980s by Weyerhaeuser, it has always been produced using a formaldehyde-free polyurethane resin blend.
Richwood has shown consistent industry leadership in recognizing the value of UL Solutions' environmental certifications. It first achieved UL GREENGUARD certification for PolyBak in 2007 and then the UL GREENGUARD Gold certification in 2015. To further exemplify their commitment to demonstrating PolyBak’s outstanding indoor air quality performance, the team at Richwood set out to achieve UL Environmental Claim Validation for Formaldehyde Free Emissions.
“We are proud to lead the industry with UL Formaldehyde Free Emissions Validation for PolyBak,” Dan Springer, President at Richwood Industries. “Through both the UL GREENGUARD and UL GREENGUARD Gold certifications, we’ve been able to show our customers the positive impact PolyBak can have on indoor air quality when selecting building materials. This validation quantifies PolyBak’s formaldehyde emissions as negligible, setting us apart from competitors and giving the end customer peace of mind.”
“Through rigorous scientific analysis and review outlined in globally accepted standards, companies that engage with UL Solutions Environmental Claim Validation program demonstrate to the marketplace that their products do, in fact, live up to their environmental claims,” Scott Laughin, program manager in the Retail and Consumer Products group at UL Solutions. “The Richwood Industries achievement provides validation that PolyBak lives up to their environmental claims and helps contribute to increased consumer confidence and brand credibility.”
